Boundaries
Our third class delves into the importance of establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries in all aspects of life. Through interactive discussions and exercises, we teach the principles of boundary-setting and self-respect.
Objective:
Teach participants to set healthy boundaries.
Empower them to protect their emotional well-being.
Address boundaries with friends, family, self, and others.
Expectations:
Definition - Explain what healthy boundaries are (eg: saying no, self-respect).
Role-Playing - Practice boundary-setting scenarios.
Self-Reflection - Encourage participants to assess their current boundaries.
Boundaries in Group Settings - Discuss how to maintain respectful boundaries during meetings.
After finishing Transitions, participants move to the third class, which is heavily inspired by the book “Boundaries” written by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. This is where participants learn to keep the good in and the bad out. As a disclaimer, this is a spiritually-based book where the psychological principles are reinforces with Bible quotes. This can be an issue for some and we ask that if this is the case, please be open to the class and read past the religious references. The material is solid and has merit on its own without the need to reference scripture.
This is an extremely popular class and sometimes people come into the program because they heard we work with the Boundaries book. There is a series of Boundaries books, Boundaries and Children, Boundaries in the Workplace, etc. People often get some of these books on their own because they got so much out of the original.
