Anger

Expressions of anger:

  1. Wrath

  2. Resentment

  3. Spite

  4. Jealousy

  5. Cruelty

Built into the anger response is the impulse to remove the obstacle that is thwarting us. That does not necessarily require violence.

The most common events that precede anger: physical interference, frustration, someone trying to hurt us, another person's anger. One of the most dangerous things about anger is that anger calls forth anger. It requires great understanding and effort to be able to not respond to anger with anger.

There are a number of different descriptions of anger.

  • One kind is directed inward, and is typically anger that is not expressed overtly.

  • Another kind is directed outward, which can lead to rage.

  • There is also anger that is associated with some kinds of sadness.

  • Finally, there is a type of anger that can be transformed into a constructive impulse to remove an obstacle.
